The Freelance Economy, also known as Gig Economy, has been demonstrating steady growth in the world over the past years with over 33% of Americans having taken up freelance jobs in 2015. Armenia is not falling behind and freelance infrastructure here is becoming not only much more diverse, but also much more advanced.

Freelance work spares you from the necessity to work specific hours from a specific office space and allows much more flexibility. And while many people choose to work on their freelance projects from home, Yerevan now features cafes suitable for freelancing and specialized coworking spaces to provide developers, content writers, virtual assistants and design pros the opportunity to focus on work with all required equipment and atmosphere in place.

In this article, I have compiled a list of top 5 freelancer and coworking spaces in Yerevan:

1. LOFT COWORKING

Loft Coworking is probably one of the most specialized of coworking spaces in the city, which provides cluster services and positions itself as a self-development center. Initially occupying one combined space for all activities encompassing anything from events, board games, a library, a corner of musical instruments and a kitchen, because of the increase of traffic the management made a decision to separate the coworking area on a different floor.

It now provides all necessary conditions for freelancers to get their work done, anything from Skype call cabins and personal lockers to conference rooms and readily available admin support. Along with the kitchen, where visitors could cook their own meals and use all required equipment till now, soon food will also be available to add to the comfort of a coworking space. Following the success in Yerevan, Loft branches have been opened in Gyumri as well, and Vanadzor and Hrazdan are coming next (it’s the so-called ‘loftification’ process) throughout the country.

Be sure to bring your own laptop. The crowd is super chill, with no age limitation. Various packages are available, starting from per minute pay to day or month passes. For more information, visit or call:

AEON is one of the more chill spots often used by freelancers and students for individual and group projects. There is a cafe style setting on the first floor, where tea, coffee and snacks are provided and visitors will only need to pay the per hour fee of 360AMD (around 80 cents) to use the space. There are daily and monthly packages available as well. The first floor also features a selection of over 50 board games, musical instruments and a handmade corner, where visitors can showcase and sell their crafts.

The second floor has two separate rooms suitable for group projects and conferences. Laptops can be provided and printing and copying equipment is available free of charge.
